Compassionate Communication at KSC 4/2/12
March 26, 2012 in Relationship
I love the structure of nonviolent communication. I was first exposed a few years ago, when a friend lent us a cd collection of Marshall B. Rosenberg reading his book, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life. My husband and I listened together – often while cleaning the kitchen – which provided lots of opportunity to practice! I was particularly moved by the basic premise that all people – ALL people – essentially want to serve life, and will do so, if and when their needs are met.
Then last year I had the pleasure of meeting Barbara Woods-Langlais, a local scholar who is in the process of becoming certified in Dr. Rosenberg’s Model for Nonviolent Communication. Barbara has presented several times for Cheshire Mediation, LLC, and will be teaching a free workshop next week, Monday, April 2, 2012, in the Madison Street Lounge at Keene State College.
For more information about the workshop, please download Barbara’s Compassionate Communication , and/or contact her at bwl@ne.rr.com. For more information about Nonviolent Communication, visit The Center for Nonviolent Communication, the NVC Academy, or Bay Area NVC.
Barbara and I are currently cooking up ideas for a more in-depth training in Rosenberg’s work, sometime in the coming year. Let us know if you’re interested.
